The Rise of Video

01 May 2016, Posted by Wagga Web Design in News, Video

According to Cisco’s 2014 Visual Networking Index video makes up 64 % of all internet traffic,  and is forecast to grow to 80 percent of all traffic by 2019.

Video is effective

The reason for the rapid growth in video (particularly in advertising) is its effectiveness. Forrester estimates that 1 minute of video is equivalent to 1.8 million words of text.

Consumers also remember video. The Online Publishers Association states that 80 percent of users recall watching a video ad in the past month, with 46 % of those taking some follow-up action, such as looking for more information or visiting the advertiser’s website.

Recently researchers surveyed 2,000 consumers and found that 44 % of buyers had viewed an online video while searching for local products and services. Fifty three percent of viewers contacted the business after watching a video, 51 % visited the business website, and 33 % visited the actual store. Seventy one percent of the viewers made a purchase.

Simple and inexpensive

Technology is making video ever more accessible

Here are several ways local businesses can keep video production simple and inexpensive:

Animation is very popular and can be kept simple.

Photo montages create flow without movement.
